Join us for a relaxed evening at The Book Brewery in Ambleside, where your next favourite read might already be waiting for you.

We are delighted to be partnering with The Book Brewery to offer a unique bookshop experience centred around thoughtful recommendations and the joy of discovering something new.

Before the Gathering, you will complete a short reading questionnaire, sharing the books you have loved, the stories you are drawn to and what you are hoping to discover next.

Using your responses, Emma and Chris at The Book Brewery will carefully curate a personalised selection of books especially for you.

On the evening, you will have time to browse your curated book pile, chat with Emma and Chris about your recommendations and enjoy discovering something new. Once you are ready, you will settle in with a drink and a sweet treat from Ginger Bakers for relaxed reading time—quiet, but not silent, with the gentle atmosphere of a library.

At the end of the evening, you will take home one paperback book (up to an RRP of £10.99). If anything else catches your eye, you will also receive 10% off any additional book purchases and drinks.

Whether you are joining with a friend or coming on your own, you will be warmly welcomed. Many of our guests come solo, and our Gatherings are designed to be friendly, relaxed and easy to join.

Timings

From 6.30pm– Arrive and settle in

7.00pm – Welcome

7.10pm – Explore personalised book recommendations/chat with Emma and Chris

8pm – Enjoy your refreshments and settle into quiet reading

8.50pm – Closing reflections and final purchases

Around 9.00pm – Gathering ends

Things to Know

Before the Gathering, you will receive a short reading questionnaire by email. Please complete and return it by the requested date so your personalised recommendations can be prepared.

Please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking so we can arrange suitable refreshments.

Additional drinks and books may be purchased throughout the evening with a 10% discount for Words and Water guests.

Places are limited to 10 guests.

Photography forms an important part of Words and Water. We will be taking photographs and short videos during the Gathering to share across our website, newsletter and social media. If you would prefer not to appear in any photographs or videos, simply let us know when you arrive.

Gatherings are intended for adults aged 18 years and over.
